  3. QMove is a full screen file redirection utility  that  operates
  4. across drives and sub-directories.  It represents many hours of
  5. work  and a contribution  of $5 dollars  would be  appreciated.

  19. QMove aims to do one thing well, to provide a combined level of
  20. convenience  and control in moving files around sub-directories
  21. and/or    across    drives.  The  interface  has been  designed  to
  22. convey    information as    well as  to provide  control  over  the
  23. process  of  moving  files around,  but  at  the same  time not
  24. presenting  an    obstacle to  easy  use.  Safeguards  have  been
  25. incorporated to ensure that unwanted deletion of files    do  not
  26. occur in the case of inter-device moving.  As this is the first
  27. version  of  the  program, it  may  fall  short of  the overall
  28. objective,  but your comments and  suggestions for improvements
  29. will help achieve that goal.
  30. Typing QM without parameters will display the  following  usage
  31. description:
  32.  
  33.      Usage: QM [d:]source [[d:]destination] [option]
  34.      , where [option] is /p to come up in pause mode.
  35.      If [d:[destination]] omitted, default directory used.
  36.      eg. QM \DIR1 \DIR2 , moves all files from dir1 to dir2
  37.      and defaults to 'pause' mode due to the lack of an
  38.      implicit *.* or other in source parameter.

  41. QMove  will operate on    any IBM PC  or Compatible using  either
  42. monochrome or colour.
  43.  
  44. QMove was developed using Microsoft 'C' V3.0 on a Corona PC.
  45.  
  46. QM  accepts wildcards in the source file name parameter. if you
  47. type  QM  A:\  C:\, QMove  will  move  all files  in  the  root
  48. directory  of A:  drive to  the root  on C:,  but will    <pause>
  49. within    the program if    you wish to  use the command  menu (F1)
  50. prior  to starting. Invoking the  menu gives you access  to all
  51. the confirm and alternate redirection options; however,  if  an
  52. explicit   mass  move  is   specified  (eg.  QM   c:\dir1\*.txt
  53. c:\dir2),  the program will proceed to execute without pausing.
  54. The  spacebar or F1  keys can be  used anytime to  override the
  55. AUTO  feature, as well as the command line option (/p -the last
  56.

  58. parameter on the command line) to bring the program up in pause
  59. mode.  QMove prompts the user for confirmation of a move in the
  60. event  that a duplicate name exists in the destination, or when
  61. a  copying process is required for moving across drives.  QMove
  62. will  operate  automatically on  moving  single files  or files
  63. using  *.* (or whatever) as  long as the redirection  is on the
  64. same   device    and  no  duplicate  file  names  exist    in  the
  65. destination.

  67. It  is    suggested that    you experiment on  either a ramdisk  or
  68. floppy using the <F1> menu in order to become familiar with the
  69. options and the operation of this utility.

  71. Planned  future  enhancements:
  72.  . An  environment  variable  to locate  alternate  path menus.
  73.  . Further  control over manipulating  files as popular  demand
  74.  . indicates.

  77. *** NOTE ***   The A)ter and  S)elect commands in the popup menu
  78. are presently  restricted  in the  sense  that they work only on
  79. the default  drive, and  the number  of entries are limited to a
  80. maximum.

  82. Further  work  is required  to allow multiple drive selection and
  83. the storing of directory names in a file. This will be implemented
  84. shortly, and an update provided.
